Twice a year, Blue Star Coffee invites the community into their production facilities for its Semi-Annual Cupping Series. This is a great opportunity for the community to learn about what goes into brewing the perfect cup of coffee and share their favorite parts of coffee culture. The first event in the series, held December 21st, is a demonstration of at-home brewing methods. Meg Donohue, co-owner of Blue Star Coffee Roasters, will be demonstrating proper brewing techniques for each of the most popular methods including Aero press, Chemex, French Press, Bialetti Moka Pot, and pour over.
The second event in the series, A Taste of Place, will take place January 18, 2014. At this event, owners Meg and Dan Donohue will lead you on a tasting journey around the world exploring the history of single origin coffees and comparing types by region and growing method
The final event in the series will be a coffee and food pairing and will be held on February 15, 2014. Meg & Dan will be pairing various Blue Star blends with culinary treats made by local bakers. The focus of the event will be to showcase how different blends of coffee pair well with different categories of food (nutty, savory, citrusy, chocolate and berry) in a way very similar to wine. The food items will be prepared locally allowing customers to replicate the pairings in their own homes.
